Donna Lynne and Ellison
Donna Unleashed

I didn’t discover myself. I didn’t uncover myself. I unleashed myself.

Nobody will hand you a permission slip for adulthood. So I’m writing all of the ones I have ever needed… so my baby will know how to write his own.

I’m a mother who spent a decade being told she was too much — too scattered, too late, too sensitive, too intense — until I learned I’d only ever been read wrong. When the fog lifted, it all came pouring out in clear view: letters to my son, the truth about what we’re being sold, and the permission no one ever handed me. Pull up a seat. It’s been a wild ride and I’m just getting started.

Poisoned by Convenience

“Everything you were told was fine probably isn’t.”

I read the fine print like a forensic architect reads a balance sheet — the label, the marketing, the study behind the claim — and I show you exactly where the load is faked. Kitchen science, home toxins, supplement math, subscription traps, and the whole industry built on you not looking. Every claim sourced, both ways. Never preachy, never fear for sale — for anyone done silencing the alarm without ever looking for the fire.

The Letters

For When You Are Ready

“Letters to my son, for the day he needs them.”

The baby book I could actually keep. Not fill-in-the-blank facts — the truth of who we were to each other, written to Ellison while it was all still wet: the love, the faith, the fear, the grief, and the year I was becoming his mother in real time. Written for him first — and for you, reading over his shoulder.

Side effects of these letters may include spontaneous tears, sudden laughter, and the deeply disorienting experience of both at once. Do not operate heavy machinery with your whole chest.

The Toolbox

Neurodivine by Design

“Your hobbies are trying to tell you something.”

Everyone has sensory needs, to varying degrees — and you don’t outgrow those at age five. Our bodies are always talking — especially women’s. Learn your body’s language, recognize when to slow down enough to listen and lean into the things your body leads you toward. On purpose. For the kids who feel everything, the minds with no filter where everything is on fire — and especially the girls and women taught to override it or explain it away.

Letter One — How to Love With Your Whole Chest

“The last gift you give the ones you love is to not look away.”

What two dogs and one little boy taught me about loving all the way to the floor — and where the love goes when the body is gone.

The niche is not the topic. The niche is the woman.

Donna Lynne

I’m Donna Lynne — CPA, architect by training, founder, author, and what I’ve started calling a forensic business architect, because I read systems the way other people read sentences: I find the cracks, the load-bearing walls, the thing that has to come down before you can safely build up. For most of my adult life, that was the one room where I was unambiguously excellent — even in the years when almost nothing else in my life made sense.

And for a long time, almost nothing did. For two decades I was told I was anxious. Generalized, they said. Here’s a medication, and then another. I was a systems person with no visible working systems — a CPA who couldn’t run her own books, a woman quietly deteriorating while still performing at a high level in that one safe room. I told myself I just wasn’t good at adulting. I had no idea I was losing a fight against a misdiagnosis and a medication that were slowly turning the volume down on the exact part of my brain I needed most.

Then, in the same season my son took his first independent steps, my medication was corrected and my brain came roaring back online. The fog lifted. What came pouring out wasn’t a breakdown — it was a backlog: twenty years of suppressed creativity, pattern-recognition, and words, all arriving at once. I finally saw the architecture I’d been hunting for my whole career. It wasn’t a building or a business. It was me. I am the blueprint.

So here is why this page exists — and these posts, and the books, and whatever comes next. This is the newest tool in my toolbox, and it may be the most important one. Writing is how I metabolize a flood that used to have nowhere to go. The blog is the pre-book; every post is a chapter taking shape. The letters to my son are his unconventional baby book and my nervous system’s pressure valve. The science writing is me doing in public what I do privately — taking a thing apart until I understand how it’s built. None of it is a hobby, and none of it is a detour from my “real” work. It is the realest work I have ever done — and, very practically, how a single mom rebuilds the financial safety net two decades of misdiagnosis quietly stole.

I am a complicated woman with a great deal going on — on purpose. CPA and pudding-cup picnics on the kitchen floor. Forensic precision and a brain that finally gets to run without interference. Faith with my whole chest and a little Southern sass. All of it is welcome here, because all of it is me: finally seen, finally unleashed, and building everything in line with that seeing.

The Permission Slip Series

Every book is a permission slip.

Permission Slip isn’t one book — it’s the spine. Every title in the series carries the same throughline: a letter that finally hands you the permission you spent too long waiting for someone else to give.

“I didn’t meet the love of my life. I gave birth to him.” For the woman doing the embryo math at 38 — wondering if she’s selfish, delusional, or too late — and choosing anyway.
